How bone conducting hearing aids work?

Normal hearing aids take the sound from the outside, amplify it, and send it back to the inner ear. However, bone conducting hearing aids use an oscillator that vibrates against your ear, just like your ear drum would. This makes bone conducting hearing aids unable to reproduce sound as good as conventional hearing aids, the quality of the sound being somewhat similar to the telephone.

Another downfall of bone conducting hearing aids is that the sound isn’t stereo, it is mono. This means that the person wearing it won’t be able to tell the source of the sound.  Topping it off, these hearing aids are kept in place with a headband which makes them quite uncomfortable.
